When Emmanuel Ngarukiyaho graduates from high school on July 3, he will achieve something that once seemed impossible.

As he prepares for Rwanda’s national examinations, Emmanuel spends long hours studying, practicing instructional techniques, and seeking help from teachers to master difficult concepts. Soon, he will graduate with a Primary Teaching Certificate (A2) — a milestone that represents far more than a diploma.

For Emmanuel, it represents a dream fulfilled.

“I am short of words,” Emmanuel says. “I cannot fully express the joy and gratitude in my heart.”

Emmanuel lost both of his parents at a young age. As an orphan, the prospect of completing secondary school seemed far beyond his reach. Without parents or relatives able to support his education, he feared his dream of graduating from high school would never become a reality. Yet, in the midst of that uncertainty, God was already preparing an answer.

Through Flourish Rwanda’s sponsorship program, Emmanuel received the support he needed to remain in school and thrive. What appeared to be the end of his educational journey became the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and opportunity.

“As an orphan, I often wondered how I would continue my education,” Emmanuel reflects. “The future seemed uncertain, and graduating from high school felt impossible. But God heard my prayers and answered them by bringing Flourish Rwanda into my life. Through the support of people I had never met, He provided the tuition, school supplies, meals, and medical care I needed to stay in school. What seemed impossible became possible.”

Thanks to the opportunity to remain in school, Emmanuel has flourished both academically and personally, emerging as a respected young leader among his peers. His teachers and fellow students elected him to serve as Head Prefect, one of the highest student leadership positions

in his school. The role helped him develop the confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills that he plans to carry into the future.

“I want to use what I have learned to inspire and influence other young people in my community and among my Flourish Rwanda brothers and sisters,” he says.

Even before graduation, Emmanuel is looking for ways to give back. During school breaks, he plans to volunteer with Flourish Rwanda by helping prepare Bible camps and other activities for younger children in the program.

His dreams do not stop with high school. Emmanuel hopes to continue his education at the university level and ultimately earn a Ph.D. For now, he is celebrating a remarkable achievement that once seemed impossible: graduating from high school.

“Flourish Rwanda, thank you for your generous support,” Emmanuel says. “I am who I am today because of you. I love you.”

As Emmanuel prepares to cross the graduation stage next month, his story reminds us that when God’s people respond with compassion and generosity, lives are transformed. A young boy who once faced an uncertain future is now graduating, leading, serving, and dreaming boldly about what comes next.
